About

Meet Meredith Briglio, IBCLC

As an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I’m passionate about using my evidence-based knowledge and training to support families in reaching their breastfeeding / chestfeeding, pumping, lactation and infant-feeding goals.
As an IBCLC, I have advanced training in particularly challenging lactation situations including inducing lactation, multiples, micro premies, breast cancer & lactation, abscesses and extreme pain in addition to a deep knowledge of standard lactation support. It was the rigorous standards of the IBCLC designation that drew me to this field including:
– over 100 hours of lactation specific training
– a 500 hour internship working directly with breastfeeding & pumping dyads
– passing the closed book, in person certifying exam
– mandatory recertification every 5 years (which includes at least 75 hours of ongoing lactation education and at least 250 hours working with breastfeeding or pumping dyads among other requirements).

In 2019, I began working towards my IBCLC certification and diploma in Lactation Medicine. Hands on experience (in the midst of a pandemic!) under the direction of my lactation consultant mentors and pediatricians including Dr. Jack Newman at the International Breastfeeding Centre (IBC) was where I developed my skills and knowledge of other areas of infant care including physiologically normal infant sleep and integrating solid foods with milk feedings in addition to the latest evidence-based practices in lactation. I went on to work as a lactation consultant at IBC for several years before pivoting to focus exclusively on my private practice.

Pumping support is a particular passion of mine, which led me to pursue additional training in flange fitting. I carry pump flange and insert sizes from 9mm to 36mm in 4 different shapes – that you can try during an appointment, with your pump, to ensure comfort and maximum milk removal.
As a parent to two (no longer small) children, I experienced some of the challenges and triumphs of infant feeding first hand. It was my personal experience as well as the experiences of friends that awakened a new passion in me to help families through what can be a tumultuous time. I’m looking forward to meeting and working with your family.
